FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APRIL 23, 2010 TY HERNDON WINS DOVE AWARD FOR "BLUEGRASS RECORDED SONG OF THE YEAR" "When We Fly" featured on Herndon's new inspirational CD, Journey On, releasing June 8 NASHVILLE, Tenn.-The Gospel Music Association has named "When We Fly" this year's "Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year." Written by best-selling country artist Ty Herndon along with Joel Lindsay and Wayne Haun, the song will be included on Herndon's new inspirational CD, Journey On, which is set to release June 8. The project, produced and written by Herndon, is the first release for FUNL Music and includes a set of ten inspirational new songs featuring the singer's trademark vocals. Herndon was presented the Dove Award, his first, during the 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards, held on Wednesday night at Nashville's famed Grand Ole Opry House. The show will be televised on Sunday, April 25, on gmc. "I'm humbled that the members of the Gospel Music Association chose to honor 'When We Fly' with a Dove Award," said Herndon. "The songs for Journey On represent my first attempt at songwriting, and I can sing them with a strength and conviction I never knew I had, because they are my songs, and that feeling is just awesome." Journey On is already being heralded as the most personal project of Herndon's career, due in large part to the fact that the CD represents Herndon's first foray into songwriting. The songs on the project reflect the personal challenges and struggles Herndon has faced, as well as the promise of hope and new beginnings. "When We Fly" wins a Dove Award

The 41st annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards were handed out last night (Wednesday, April 21, 2010) at the Grand Ole Opry house in Nashville. "When We Fly", Ty's duet with Lizzy Long, won the award for Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year. As a co-writer, Ty was doubly honored by the recognition this song received.

The Dove Awards, Christian music's most prestigious awards, began honoring the best and brightest in Christian and Gospel music in 1969.  You can watch the 2010 Dove Awards presentation on the Gospel Music Channel on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
